Hey Stephen, if this makes you feel more secure, I ran my '87 Sav for about two years with solid steel struts in place of the shock absorbers - kind of a poor man's hardtail - with no ill effects. Curb hopping and all. I did worry about breakage from time to time, so I kept a close eye on the swingarm welds. Sounds like you might have a horror story - care to expand?
